Possum Trot was a rural community in Daviess County, Kentucky, located on the Delaware and Calhoun Road about eighteen miles from Owensboro and two miles south of Mount St. Joseph.

The community was named by J. P. Waltrip, who said the narrow hollows there were full of possums.

In April 1875 the wheat crop was growing well and the farmers were looking forward to big tobacco and corn crops.
