DEED: 1822 to Rock Springs Baptist from Isaac Wayne A-425
Yelvington Baptist Church was organized in a home in 1813 and began as the "Rock Spring." It began with 11 members. At the second meeting, the first pastor, deacon, and clerk were named. At this time, Daviess County was Ohio county, and at this second meeting, the church assumed the name of "Panther Creek Church of Ohio County near Yellow Banks". In 1817, steps were taken to build a house and the name was changed to "Rock Spring" again and a large frame building was built but never entirely completed.
