William Anthony, lawyer, was a member of the Legislature from this county during the war. He was learned, refined, able and witty.
He stood firm on the side of the Union all through the war. As a lawyer he was of course shrewd and ready.
He could with wonderful ease, yet perfect politeness, entrap any crooked witness whom he might be called upon to examine. He died some years ago.
