Spice Knob was a community in Daviess County, Kentucky, located at the junction of KY 1389 and Graves Lane. The name came from the practice of Native Americans gathering spicy herbs on the two hills in the area.
Settlement
The area was originally settled by Warden and Ann Riddle. Soon other families settled nearby, especially the Wells and Shouse families.
School
A school was soon established, reputed to be the first in the county. It is said that children sometimes encountered buffalo as they walked to school.
Lockhart Riddle drove Daviess County’s first school bus, a 1926 Chevrolet.
