	In the latter part of the year 1841, several members were lettered off by the Pleasant Grove Church for the purpose of organizing a Church some two or three miles west of Owensboro near the Ohio River. In the latter part of the year 1841, several members were lettered off by the Pleasant Grove Church for the purpose of organizing a Church some two or three miles west of Owensboro near the Ohio River. Her prospects for a time seemed to be flattering as she was located near a newly erected manufacturing plant and adjacent to extensive coal fields. The rapid increase in the population also encouraged the idea that this would become in the near future a place of considerable importance. Thus for a time the Church flourished and bid fair for an extended usefulness in the spreading of the Gospel.

Soon after her organization by Elders B. B. Rafferty, I. R. Allen, and John G. Howard she became a member of the Goshen Association. She continued a member of that body until 1844, at which time, in connection with eight other Churches, she petitioned the Goshen Association for a letter of dismission for the purpose of forming the Daviess County Association. She thus became one of the constituent members of this body.
But, alas, her career was to be short. The manufacturing plant closed down about 1854. This caused a moving away of the population and in consequence the dispersing of the Church. Her name was ordered to be stricken from the list of Churches in 1855. Her membership climbed from 22 in 1844 to 71 in 1851 but declined to 43 in 1854.
